Questions & Answers for Nikon Inc. COOLPIX L610

Question

Best Battery Option?

I got this camera yesterday and I love the pictures I've taken already, but the battery is a problem. It doesn't take long to drain them. I've already replaced the batteries it came with today and now after some more testing shots, those batteries are drained (although i'm not sure they were completely fresh). Should I buy new batteries and try that and what brand should I get? or should I go ahead and invest in rechargeable batteries (and what kind would be best for this camera)? Thanks! Also, if you have any tips on preserving battery life while taking pictures, I'd be happy to hear those too.

Try lithium batteries. As far as saving the battery about all you can do is use the LCD a little as possible. Try to do all your finished photo looking to uploads to your computer.
Rechatgeable batteries are not a bad idea, just get a good brand name. If you do, don't mix partially charged and fully charged batteries.
With regular batteries when you put a fresh set in make sure you replace them in pairs

Question

The L610 seems to operate much like the L120, though it has more megapix and 1080 movie. Do you have to take the lens cap off before turning it on?

My L120 stopped working correctly. The zoom out would not work and the picture button would not click. I loved the camera before this happened. I wonder if it was caused by me forgetting to take off the lens cap a couple of times before I turned on the camera.

You have to remove the lens cap of the COOLPIX L810 before you turn it on, because it will damage the lens. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera to be evaluated.
