I don't know what exactly you want, but I have a D600 and I have this lens and it works fantastic!
With a D lens on a Nikon DSLR the aperture ring must be set and locked to the minimum aperture and aperture settings are done with the camera. You can still use the defocus control ring on the camera working the the aperture you have set with the camera. Is there something I am missing in your question?

It is, but I'm returning it. It's a sluggish lens that in my opinion performs poorly below f/4. Maybe consider the the 85mm f/1.4.

It should be fully compatible with D7000. But one small warning, because of the 1.5 Crop factor on the D7000, you working focal length will be 157.5mm . Make sure you are comfortable to work with this focal length before you get it. (Having focal length trouble with this lens on a crop body myself)

Question

How to get the hood off?

This is a fantastic lens, no question. But at times it is literally impossible to unscrew the hood (so as to attach a filter, for instance). I fear that if I twist, pull or push any harder I'm going to break something. What's the best way to tighten and remove the hood?

Question

105DC focus not sharp?

i bought this 105DC lens a year ago. since then i bought 2 other lens 70-200VR ii and 16-35 f/4 also upgraded the body to D4, then 70-200 became my main lens replacing my 105DC because of its sharpness. i came back to 105DC recently for fun and only realized that all this time, the 105DC focus (manual/auto) was not in anyway sharp as my other two new lenses. is 105DC inferior in focusing? note: i tested on DC ring to 0 and all other F/R 2-5.6' result were the same, no precise focus that i got. is my particular lens defected? should i send it in for repair? any suggestion?

The AF DC-Nikkor 105mm f/2 D lens will not autofocus on the D5100 but is otherwise compatible. This also applies to the other DC (defocus control) lens in the current Nikkor lineup - the AF DC-Nikkor 135mm f/2D.

The AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105 f/2.8 does not have defocus control but will autofocus on the D5100. For more information on this lens visit: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...

Yes, the AF DC-Nikkor 105mm f/2D can be used on the D5100. The D5100 will not auto focus with this lens since the D5100 and the lens do not have an autofocus motors. With this lens there will be a crop factor of 1.5x. For a idea of how this will effect your view, please see the lens simulator: http://static.nikonusa.com/Lens-Sim...
