The viewfinder is the tiny window that you look through with your eye when you put the camera up to your face while taking a photo, or in other words so you can 'find' what you want to 'view' in the photo. You have to remove the eyepiece prior to putting the DK-5 attachment on your camera see related product I've selected...

The Nikon DK-5 eyepiece cap is a shield that prevents interference during long exposures from stray light when your eye is not behind the viewfinder. When using the self timer or remote release. Remove the viewfinder eyepiece cup by sliding it up and attach the DK-5 eyepiece cap
