This cord is out of stock. Would a universal camcorder A/V cable with 1/8" jack accomplish the same thing? i have a D40X.

Currently we don’t have the EG-D100 video cable in stock at Nikon Store but you can get it at any online dealer. We do not recommend using thrid party products.
Does the camera provide live feed through the cable to the TV/Monitor, or just displays the photos after they are taken? I need live...

Where can we plug this wire into the d800? I haven't found out the composite output on the d800.

This appears to be miss print. The EG-D100 is not compatible with the D800. You would use a (Type C) HDMI cable. This is not supplied with the D800 camera.
