You should be fine. The charger states that it is good with 120-240V systems. Just have the proper plug converter and you should be fine.

Question

If when charging the battery, the light blinks only 20 seconds, does it mean charger is broken? Or, Is the battery broken?

The MH-18a charger and battery is a bit more than two years old. But I can't get the battery to charge. We are in Puerto Vallarta on a holiday. The camera and battery were bought in Edmonton, Alberta.

You only need two hours and 15 minutes in order to have a fully charge battery, once this is completed the charge lamp should stop blinking and stays a solid light. If the charge lamp is flickering that means that the battery is set incorrectly or the battery is faulty.

Question

MH-18a Nikon Quick Charger compatibility with110v and 220v?

If I read well the input capacity on the back of the MH-18a Nikon Quick Charger, I can use it either with110v or 220v. Is this right? There is no room for mistakes!
The Guide does not say a word about this.

Yes, all Nikon Coolpix cameras have an auto switching (from 100v to 240V 50hz/60hz) battery charger that will work in most countries around the world. AC adapters have similar characteristics. Always check the specification plate on your other battery chargers or AC adapters as third party products may not support dual voltage systems. We do not suggest the use of third party battery chargers and AC adapters with Nikon equipment.

Note that the power cord included with some Nikon chargers or AC adapter is designed for 110 volt use only. A power cord suitable for the local power system should be obtained on arrival, most airport shops and computer suppliers will carry these items which are typically used for laptop computer power supply connections. Be sure that the new cord you buy fits the Nikon adapter you wish to use it with and that it is rated for the voltage in your new location. While not recommended, a simple plug adapter may be used, but caution should be taken as the cord Nikon supplies is not rated for the higher voltage and may heat or fail.

Question

Any future plans for MH-18a with ability to be charged via USB?

Can MH-18a be charged via USB rather relying solely on AC 110v. I have a solar powered rechargeable pack (Brunton) to recharge electronics such as cellphones and Ipods. This would allow me to recharge electronics out in the field.

Question

MH-18a charger

i am having some issues with my charger. It was fine at noon and now i don't seem to see any light to indicate it's charging.

All i know was, i was charging it on an extension cord and i fixed the vacuum cleaner on another socket. Could it have caused anything?

Is there a fuse or something to change or the charger is spoilt?

Plug adapter or voltage converter?

I'm traveling to Ireland this spring. I have a Nikon Quick Charger MH-18a with a cord attached that's labeled for US outlets. I just want to be sure that all I need is a plug adapter. Or do I need to use a voltage converter as well?

Question

MH-18a Quick Charger used with a Solar Panel kit?

Hi, I am going on a 3 week backpacking trip this summer and will be using my Nikon D90 all along to shoot films and images. However, this can only be possible with a solar panel... and I do not know how to (or if it is even possible) charge my EN-EL3e batteries with this charger via a solar panel. Can you give me some information, examples and/or ideas that would help me out with this problem? Thank you very much!

You can setup a solar recharge system but not with the MH-18a. You will have to get a third party charger. Do a search for solar recharge nikon battery and there are several suggestions on how to set t up.

No, you will need to purchase an international plug adapter at your local electronic store or online. They are inexpensive. The electrical outlet used in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland is design differently than the United States.
