Depends on the camera mate.On the d3000 for example , comes the 18-55mm VR ,now the d90 comes with the 18-105 mm.On the other hand , you have the fx cameras that usually come with no lens what so ever.

Question

Can I use my manual focus Nikkor 180mm f2.8 lens with this camera?

I also have an AF Nikkor 24mm f2.8, an AF Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8, and a manual focus Tokina AT-X 300mm f2.8. I have used these lenses for years with my Nikon F3, but now I'm ready to go digital. Can I use these lenses with the D80? Will the D80 meter with these lenses?

Question

Best lens

I need to purchase a lens for my D80 and I want to use it for doing portrait shots of my family members. Most of these pictures will be taken outside. I don't want to spend more than $1500 on the lens. Please let me know your top 3 choices if possible.
