The number of shots that can be taken with fully-charged batteries varies with the condition of the battery, temperature and how the camera is used. With one EN-EL5 battery in the camera you can take approximately 220 Still pictures or Movies: Approx. 1 h 20 min (HD 1080pP (1920×1080).

i have 2 of these batteries and they only stay charged for 3 days then they need to be fully charged again

i dont leave the batteries in the camera P6000 so its really frustrating when you go to use the camera and the batteries need to be fully charged again.

Battery capacity tends to decrease on cold days. Be sure that the batteries are fresh before heading outside to take pictures in cold weather. Keep spare batteries in a warm place and exchange as necessary. Once, warmed, a cold battery may recover some of its charge. Dirt on the battery terminals can prevent the camera from functioning.

You should get roughly 200-240 shots out of a charge, page 232 of your manual explains a bit more.

Question

I have 2 EN-EL5 batteries. One is CONJD and one is DOCPF. Otherwise they are identical. What are their ages?

I bought one of them with the camera 2 or 3 years ago (2009 or 2010), and I bought one recently (May 2012). I want to know which is the new one.

Battery Life (shots per charge) Still pictures*: Approx. 240 shots
Battery life may vary depending on shooting interval and length of time menus and images are displayed.

No, it will not fit and uses a different charger, only the EN-EL5 can be used.

Question

Charging duration for EN-EL5 battery

Please can you let us know for how long should this battery be charged? How long should this battery be charged if it is fully discharged or how long if the camera shows half strength on the battery.

The charging of the battery does not stop automatically once it reaches full charge.(like in mobile phones) That's why I'm worried that I'll overcharge the battery and spoil it.

I'll either use the EH-69P charger or charge by connecting the camera to an PC's USB port.

Is there a usb charger or solar charger available to charge the EN-EL5 battery?

I go to remote places where I do not have access to electricity. I need to charge my Nikon P90 camera batteries either via USB or Solar? Is this possible? Any tips would be really appreciated.

Only way is to get a solar charger that produces between 110-240 volts.
