No, AW-100's battery door cannot be closed when it is connected to the AC adapter and the AC adapter itself is not waterproof. Do not use the AC adapter on the AW-100 in situations where the camera or adapter may get wet.

How do you charge the battery on the S9100?
I've purchased the S9100, and the battery is now expended. The AV cable that it came with does not charge the battery.

Please read pages 16,17 7 18 0f the users manual. There are three ways to charge the battery. In camera with the supplied EH-69P A/C chargibd adapter paired with the UC-E6 USB cable or you can charge from a computer using the UC-E6 cable. If you want to charge outside the camera you can purchase a MH-65 charger.
