This seems not to be in agreement with the instructions from Nikon that accompanied the battery.

No need to drain battery, just remove it from the camera.

Question

Why doesn't my EN-EL15 take a charge?

The battery indicates that it is charging (flashing), but it never charges. It has not been dropped or damaged in any way, just quit charging. The Charger works fine on my other (spare) EN-EL15.

If you have a D600, D800 or a Nikon 1 V1 the same info is available.

I assume you have a D7000, insert battery in camera and in the setup menu go to Battery info, check the battery age as it will tell you if it has reached the end of life cycle. If it doesn't have sufficient charge to do this I would assume the battery needs to be replaced.

its depend on your camera and your settings (CCD or CMOS Sensor type, flash, shutter duration etc.)

Is it possible to overcharge EN-EL15 Battery?

Are there any overcharging issues such as damaging the battery from overcharging if the battery is plugged in and charged overnight? How long can the battery be safely left in the charger (with the charger plugged) after the charge light on the charger becomes solid (indicating that charging is complete)?

You only need to charge your battery for 2 hours and 35 minutes when it's completely drained.

Question

Short Battery Age in V1?

Within the first two months of ownership of a V1 and EN-EL15 (both purchased brand new), the Battery Age of the EN-EL15 is already = 2. So far, I've taken no more than 975 pictures and maybe ten various videos, and the battery's been charged approx. five times. Should the EN-EL15 be 'aging' so quickly?

BTW, the ninth character of the battery's lot number = J, so this one's not part of the April recall.

Battery Life (shots per charge) 350 shots. Battery life will vary with condition of the battery, temperature and how is used. Make sure to keep the battery contacts clean since soiled contacts can reduce battery performance. Use the battery immediately after charging sin it will lose their charge if left unused. Also, may vary depending on shooting interval and length of time menus and images displayed.

You can charge the battery at any time, it doesn't have to be completely drained.

will the battery's life be affected if charged when it is not completely drained or slightly used?

when travelling, i usually charge the battery whenever possible. and most of the time, it still has 75% of capacity left. will this shorten the battery life cycle? is it required to only charge the battery when it is completely drained to get a full battery life cycle? thanks.
