Align the mounting mark on the lens with the mounting mark on the hood and twist to secure. The mark on the hood looks like a solid gray dot with a line extending from it at a right angle. The mark on the lens is a small gray dot.

The lens hood can be screw onto the front of the lens. It shields the glass from sunlight, or stray light which can cause flare. More information can be found in the link below.
