This is only compatible with the new NIKON 1 V1. You need the GP-1 GPS unit.

The GPS GP-N100 is compatible with the NIKON 1 V1 and the camera is compatible with MAC OS.

Refer to page 66-68 of the V1 manual and 76-78 of the V2 manual.
The light on top of the GP-N100 blinks Red when searching for satellite signal, and Green when satellite signal is acquired.

GPS Position information can be view in the setup menu. While the GPS is connected to the camera, Press the menu button> Select the Wrench (setup)>> Select GPS>> Select Position.

When you take a picture while the position information is available, the GPS information is recorded to the image metadata. You can view this information in a picture software such a Nikon View NX 2 and click on the map icon at the top of the sofware to launch the map which will show the location that the pictures were shot.
