The NC 40.5 Neutral Color 40.5mm filter will protect the front lens element of certain 1 NIKKOR lenses that have a 40.5mm filter thread. <br />The filter does not affect the color hues (visible light spectrum); the multi-colored glass of the filter is designed to reduce flare as well.

No filters or lenses can be attached to the COOLPIX AW100.

**That is wrong the COOLPIX AW100 can indeed use filters with the optional 40.5mm UR-E23 Filter Attachment. **
