I thought the same about the lens hood (VERY loose fit) until I realized the lens filter was preventing the hood from locking into place. Remove the filter and the hood will lock very securely into place. Then screw the filter on the hood and you have a great system for keeping dust from getting in between the hood and lens.

answer 2
I purchased this hood and it is very loose and falls off. I would not recommend. The hood should stay secure when placed on the lens.

answer 2
The cap that came with the lens works fine with the hood. But I would not recommend the hood, the one I got is very loose and falls off easily. Only a matter of time before it is lost and my lens cap with it... terrible.
