If the HK-30 will not work with the Nikon ED AF-I 300mm F/2.8 D (IF) Lens, is there any alternative to the HK-19 that I can use>?

Unfortunately for this lens we don't have parts available anymore, since it's been discontinued years ago. You may want to check with dealers if they have a used HK-19 available (the only one compatible).
I have the Nikon 300 F2.8 VR2 lens. The screw for the HK30 to tighten and release the hood from the lens has come off of the hood. Why can I not receive a new replacement part or send the hood to Nikon for service and repair. I have been told I need to replace the entire hood at a cost of $342.00, for a simple and easy repair that would cost less than $ 10.00 in parts
