Questions & Answers for Nikon Inc. HB-35 Bayonet Lens Hood

Question

HB-35 falls off

I just got a AF-S DX 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 ED VRII with a HB-35 hood. The hood falls off with the slightest movement. Is there a way to secure this better? Should I put electrical tape over the rail or something else to make it stay on? As it is, it is utterly useless as it falls off at the slightest movement.

I just checked mine and it works fine, rotates and clicks into place.
Perhaps yours is defective.

answer 2
Yes. I rotate it, just like other lens hoods that I have. This one flops around and falls off no matter how many times or ways I rotate it.

Are you turning it after you put it on so it snaps into place?
