Questions & Answers for Nikon Inc. DK-17M Magnifying Eyepiece
Question
DK-17M Magnifying Eyepiece
Will the DK-17M Magnifying Eyepiece fit a D-700. The D-700 brochure indicates that it will, but the Nikon website doesn't list the D-700 as being a compatible camera.
How would I go on fitting this accessory onto my D5100? Any adapters, anything?
I need a larger magnification than the DK-21M, and also, the DK-21M doesn't work well while using glasses, which I always need to wear. Also. would I still be able to put a -3.0 diopter adjustment accessory with this? Thanks!

D5100 has a slide on eyepiece not a screw on won't work.
hi the eyepiece should screw into the same place your original rubber eyepiece is, unscrew it and screw new one in its place... not sure about the "diopter adj. accs", you will still be able to make diopter adjustments...
What I want to know is when this magnifying eyepiece is added and you achieve the 1.2x magnification, do you still retain 100% viewfinder coverage or does it somehow crop the edges to be less than 100%? What I want to ensure is that I still see what I'm going to get, but have a large viewfinder image for ease of manual focus. Thanks

The only round rubber eyecup for the D7000 is the DG-2 eyepiece magnifier which must be used with the DK-22 adapter. There are no other similar eyecups.
I'm a photographer with advanced diabetic retinopathy, as a result of which, I've had extensive laser surgery to the back of my eyes. The effect of this is that I have great difficulty in seeing small objects. I'm wondering has anyone tried this Nikon eyepiece and can it assist in magnifying the viewing screen to the extent a photographer with bad eyesight may be able to functionally operate a digital SLR. Many thanks for any help with this. JAD

Here is the system chart for the D600, it lists DK-21M as the correct magnifying eyepiece. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d600/compatibility01.htm
