Question

Manual Mode?

I need a camera for my photography class at school, and the only requirement is that it can be put into manual mode. The L620 looks perfect, but I was playing around with the settings in the store, and couldn't find how to switch it to manual mode, if it even can. I found an "auto assist" option or something like that and saw that I could turn it off. Does that mean it is in manual mode?

The COOLPIX L620 is equipted with scene modes and an auto mode however it does not have a setting where the shutter and aperture can be manually set. P series COOLPIX cameras along with Nikon 1s and Nikon DSLRs have this feature.

Question

Why does my camera only record seconds of video before shutting down?

When I start recording video, it records for a few seconds then shuts down. Last thing on the display is "Battery Expired." I have changed the batteries twice now. It works fine for taking pictures and shows a full battery between pictures.

With the L620, make sure that the camera's battery settings are set to the appropriate battery that is being used. When recording video please use an approved memory card also make sure that it is a class 6 or higher. Here is a link to the approved memory cards: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/an...

Question

Auto focus takes long time in low light scenarios

Looking for best settings to speed up auto focus. Currently in low light it can take seconds to focus. This causes me to miss the shot, especially when taking pictures of my children.

When entering the shooting menu of the camera, the auto focus mode can be changed to AF-S (auto focus single) or to AF-F (Auto Focus Fulltime). When shooting children there is a preset scene mode specifically to capture active children.

Question

Battery Exhausted (L620)

Very frustrating and disappointing. When trying to take a video on my Coolpix L620, the message "battery exhausted" appears, yet when switching to normal photo mode, the battery level indicator seems full and good. Never expected this out of a "Nikon" product. Any tips or hints, as to if there is a solution for this problem? Please advise - thanks.
